Cape Hatteras Lighthouse Stein

Probably the most famous lighthouse in the U.S., Cape Hatteras is located on Diamond Shoals on the outer bands of North Carolina. This area is often referred to as the graveyard of the Atlantic due to the loss of over 2,200 ships in the area. The first light in the region was built in 1798 and replaced in 1870 after partial destruction during the Civil War. This light is also the tallest in the U.S., standing over 200 feet.
